Anne Frank house and Nemo Science Museum

5 September 2017

We woke up early to have breakfast and locate the historical Anne Frank house. To get tickets for a specific time in the morning, you had to book almost 2 months before the date you wanted to go, to make sure you can get in; I bought our tickets on July 5th! I was told the tickets go fast. There were many people that did not know this and were turned away unhappily to come back after 3pm to get in line with everyone else that did not procure advance tickets. I felt a little bad. But the people that work there were courteous and patient and well mannered even when the visitors were not!
No pictures are allowed to be taken in the house nor museum, all the more to soak in just how powerful and effective the story of 1 young woman and her diary tells of a difficult time in so many Jewish lives. You could not help but tread softly, and speak in whispers if at all while listening to the auto commentary that told the story as you walked through the very store rooms that served as the front to the home that also hid the rooms hidden behind a bookcase, where Anne's and 2 other families/friends hid for 2 years during the Nazi occupation.
Powerful.

Then we found some crepes.

Then we found some second hand stores. Still not ready to lug extra stuff around, but it's fun to look!

Bicycles. So many bicycles!!! This is actually bike "parking" outside the train station!!!!
If we don't get run over by a bicycle(most likely our fault too) by the time we leave this city i will be pleasantly surprised!!

Then we found the Nemo Science Museum.

Ot was geared towards the younguns, but we still had fun!

Then, because we had not walked enought(9 miles total today I think) we went in another direction to a food hall I had found online.
Intimidating a first, but once we FINALLY found a seat it was so fun! Think Oktoberfest with a bunch of tables surrounded by strangers(we met an awesome gal from Berlin who was there on a work trip) with dozens of food options and a bar running down the middle of the hall.

I think we want to come here again in Amsterdam!!
